New Transferware...... l Iove it!

Welcome & thank you for stopping in! Many of you know I absolutely Love transferware and yesterday I found this beautiful setting of 37 pieces in a Shop I have not visited in over a year.
I had met the lovely Antique shop owner at a Alzheimer's Family Support meeting over ten years ago. She is now 85 years young and although her spouse is still living in the nursing home she carries on with their little Antique shop.
Whenever I enter her place I always end up leaving with a smile and a great treasure. Yesterday was no exception, I found this setting for eight and an old oil lantern I was looking for as a housewarming gift for friends.

Today we are hosting a dinner party for our friends as it is our Saturday to prepare the meal. I have chosen a pasta & spicy sausage dish for dinner tonight so we are looking forward to enjoying it with sourdough bread & a coleslaw recipe of my Mother's.

These two bone handled pieces are from my Sweetie's family .

Below is a liquer  glass that was my Mother In Law's and I am on the lookout for more of these as I only have three glasses. The stem is twisted glass and the edging is gold.

My new dishes came with one serving bowl above. And my Grandmother's little bird salt & peppers look great on the table.

I was told the dishes are from around 1930 and the maker is below.

Well the table is set now we just need the guests to arrive....

The framed print below hung in my Mother's bedroom since I can remember.

The two smaller pictures below are ones we found at a Car Boot sale in London over 14 years ago.

These triple chocolate cookies will go well with the Cappuccino frozen yogurt below. Oh how I love comfort food!

Blessings to you & yours as you enjoy your weekend!

Hugs,

Wanda

Fall in the Valley

Fall is one of my favourite Seasons! We visited one of the Market Gardens in the Valley we live in and every year they make a display with all of their Pumpkins.
They had not finished the project so we will have to visit them again this coming weekend. People drive out from nearby cities to see be photographed with the great mounds of pumpkins.
I say "Fall... Bring it on!"

Fall Blessings to you & your Families!

New Table cloth and Cactus Centrepiece

Well I finally made my own Cactus pot! I have been admiring them in shops and could not believe the price they wanted for them. After many trips to our local florist and gift shops I found four different Cactus plants and an attractive pot to coordinate with our home. I am loving the look!

While we were vacationing in North Dakota I found this beautiful table cloth and fell in Love! The colours were perfect so it will be treasured and companioned with some vintage linens from my collection.

Tonight we had our Saturday Friends over for Dinner and I must say the East Indian meal I prepared was amazing! We call them our Saturday Friends as we take turns cooking for each other every Saturday evening.

See how the new table cloth looks with my favourite paper napkins...

Thank you for stopping in... Blessings to everyone!

Wanda

Family Piece

Welcome! Today I am sharing my Mother In Law's dresser which I am assuming is from the early 1900's.  Since we moved a year ago to our condo we have had this piece down in our storage unit. It took me one year to convince my Sweetie that I should paint this piece. We brought it up into the Dining room so I could store some of my vintage linens in it and I am now thinking I don't want to paint it. It is in rough shape for sure but it goes so nicely with the other woods in the room. I am sure it will not escape the paint brush or stain refinishing for very long but for now she will stay as she is until I can make up my mind.

I love the decorative handles!

Some of my tarnished pieces have made their way onto her top. I sure struggle with the look of tarnished silver. I love the look but when I do finally polish it I love that look as well.

The toile runner I have sewn for the top is one of my favourite fabrics and I have used it to cover the seats of chairs as well as new covering for a few small stools.

This is one of my treasures we picked up in Victoria B.C. and I love it for serving iced tea.

The three pictures below are by the artist Jan Korthals who was born in 1916 and lived in Holland until his death in 1973. I am drawn to his art and have five larger pieces of Paris & area.

These three pictures are of Delft, Amsterdam & Nymegen in the Netherlands. We are hoping to visit The Netherlands for a month in 2013 so we are really looking forward to finding some more treasures while we are there.

I hope you enjoyed your visit today! Thank you for stopping in...

Have you ever done a House exchange for Vacation?

Hello my Blogging friends! Have any of you ever done a Vacation where you exchange your home with someone from another part of the World? My Sweetie and I have registered with a few Web sites that offer this service of connecting vacationers with each other to exchange your homes and vehicles as well in some situations.
It seems to be a wonderful way to explore the World while not having the expense of Hotels or   B & B's.
Our friends have done an exchange to the Netherlands and are looking forward to going again in 2013.
Since we are retiring in 2013 we have decided to give this option a try so we can spread our vacation funds farther each year and see how many areas on the map we can explore.
I will keep you posted on how we make out!

Have a wonderful week ahead!

Blessings...
